Experienced Finnish sportscar driver Markus Palttala has been drafted into the ProSpeed Porsche team's Le Mans 24 Hours line-up to replace the injured Matthieu Vaxiviere

Palttala replaces injured Vaxiviere in ProSpeed Porsche for Le Mans

Palttala takes the place of Vaxiviere, who sustained back injuries in last weekend's Monaco Formula Renault 3.5 race, in the Belgian team's 911 GT3-RSR alongside Emmanuel Collard and Francois Perrodo.

The deal marks a return to ProSpeed for 36-year-old Palttala, who contested a full season in the FIA GT Championship in 2008 and helped it win the teams' title in the 2010 FIA GT3 European Championship.

Team boss Rudi Penders said: "There are lots of drivers out there who are qualified to do the race, but it is good to bring in a driver we know who can integrate into the team straightaway."

Palttala will not take part in the Le Mans test day this Sunday because he is racing in the United SportsCar Championship event at Detroit with the Turner BMW GT Daytona team.

The three drivers sharing ProSpeed's second Le Mans entry - Jeroen Bleekemolen, Cooper MacNeil and Bret Curtis - will also be racing at Detroit and absent from the test.

All four are already on the approved list of drivers allowed to take part in the 24 Hours.

Penders expects Vaxiviere to return to ProSpeed's solo entry in the full World Endurance Championship after its summer break at Austin in September.
