Nicolas Minassian stays with Pecom for 2013 WEC season

Former Peugeot factory driver Nicolas Minassian will remain with the AF Corse-run Pecom LMP2 squad for this year's FIA World Endurance Championship

The British-based Frenchman, who contested the final four WEC races of last season with the Italian squad, will again share the team's ORECA-Nissan 03 with Pierre Kaffer and Luis Perez Companc.

Minassian, who helped AF Corse secure its first P2 victory at Bahrain last September, said: "It can be a good year for us and I believe we can win the championship with the package we have.

"Last year, we were always quick in the races, but lacked pure speed in qualifying. We hope to address that during an extensive pre-season test programme."

The deal means that Minassian is on course for his 14th participation in the Le Mans 24 Hours, the centrepiece of the WEC.

"It will be the first time that I have done Le Mans and not been in the top class, but hopefully I will be in a position to win the class," he continued.

"If I was in privateer LMP1, I wouldn't be going for a victory."

Minassian raced a variety of machinery last season after he left Peugeot shortly before its withdrawal from the international sportscar arena.

He raced P2 cars for Sebastien Loeb Racing, Jota and AF Corse, as well as the Dome-Judd S102.5 P1 run by Pescarolo Team at the Spa WEC round and Le Mans.
