Mullen: Ferrari can fight for GT2 win
Virgo Motorsport driver Tim Mullen is confident Ferrari can still fight for the GT2 victory, despite Porsche locking out three of the top four places in the first qualifying session this evening
Rob Bell set the best time in Virgo's 430, which was the quickest Ferrari albeit 1.7 seconds off the pace of Pat Long's time in the lead Porsche, but Mullen believes there is more to come yet.
"The car was good straight away so if we can get into a race rhythm early, that's the way to do it," he told autosport.com. "Pat and Jorg Bergmeister only snuck ahead of us in the last 20 minutes.
"We can be right up there for sure, I think we can probably break the four-minute barrier."
But Mullen says Ferrari are still at a disadvantage because the Porsches have the greater straight-line speed.
"The Porsches have always been faster than the Ferraris on the straights. We've made a massive step forward this year but they can still run more wing and have more downforce in the corners. For us to get the speed on the straights, we have to run less aero."
