Morand LMP2 team confirms it will miss Silverstone WEC round

The withdrawal of the Morand LMP2 squad from the first round of the World Endurance Championship at Silverstone this weekend has been confirmed by the team

The news that the , revealed by AUTOSPORT this evening, has been followed by an official statement from Team SARD Morand.

It read: "Due to administrative and legal reasons, Benoit Morand [team boss] and his crew will miss the opening round of the championship.

"From now on, everything will be done to race in Belgium [at Spa on May 2] for the second round of the WEC and for the remaining rounds of the season."

Morand said he was "still optimistic" that the team's assault on the WEC with a pair of Morgan-Judd/BMW EVOs would still go ahead.

The withdrawal follows delays in finalising the sale of the team to data encryption specialist Kairos Technologies, which was announced ahead of the official WEC test at Paul Ricard last month.

That agreement allowed the team to take part in the two-day test, but due diligence has yet to be completed in order for the sale to go through.
