Lotus LMP1 team withdraws from Le Mans 24 Hours

The German Lotus LMP1 team has withdrawn its as-yet-unraced LMP1 prototype from next month's Le Mans 24 Hours

The AER-engined Lotus T129, which was absent from the first two events in the World Endurance Championship, has been pulled out of the Le Mans round on June 14/15 because its homologation is not yet complete.

The new Le Mans entry list published today remains at its 56-car capacity despite all the remaining reserves gaining entries at the last round of withdrawals in April.

The Millennium Racing squad run by the Delta-ADR team, which withdrew its two ORECA-Nissan LMP2s last month, has been invited back onto the entry list with a solo car to be driven by Oliver Turvey, John Martin and Fabien Giroix.

Millennium has also entered its test car for the Le Mans test day on June 1 with the same drivers to gather data as it plays catch-up after missing the Silverstone and Spa WEC rounds.

The Lotus T129 project is still ongoing, according to ACO sporting manager Vincent Beaumesnil.

"We are hopeful that the team will be back in the WEC later in the year," he said.

It is hoped that the car will be on display at Le Mans during the week of the race.

Meanwhile, Ferrari stalwarts Giancarlo Fisichella and Olivier Beretta will rejoin the AF Corse factory team for Le Mans.

Fisichella will race the lead AF Ferrari 458 Italia shared in the WEC by Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander, while Beretta joins the second pairing of James Calado and Davide Rigon.
