LMP2 Leader Hits Trouble
The Intersport Racing Lola of Liz Halliday, Gregor Fisken and Sam Hancock, which led the LMP2 class for much of Saturday evening, has suffered injector problems, costing it a two-lap cushion and the lead of the class
Halliday was aboard when the car first suffered its problems. "I was just starting my third stint when the engine started making noises like a Corvette," said the American. She pitted to have the problem investigated, and the team changed some software mapping, but Fisken was forced to pit shortly afterwards for more extensive work.
The class is now led by the Paul Belmondo Courage of Belmondo himself, Didier Andre and Rick Sutherland, which started from pole position. Belmondo had trouble re-starting his car after a routine pit stop during the night.
The Kruse Motorsport Courage spun off in the hands of Phil Bennett. The Briton had reported a transmission problem earlier in the race. "The rear wheels lock when you change to second gear," he said. "It is a bit worrying."
