H9: disaster for Quifel in LMP2

Audi continued to press home their advantage with Rinaldo Capello leading Frank Biela by two laps, while Nicolas Minassian drove the No. 7 Peugeot in third place, a further two laps adrift of the leaders

Sebastien Bourdais continued the fight back for the No. 8 Peugeot, finishing the hour in sixth position ahead of the Rollcentre Pescarolo of Stuart Hall, who could do nothing but watch as the team's mechanics struggled to fit his right front wheel.

Disaster befell Warren Hughes, who led the LMP2 class by two clear laps in the Quifel Team ASM Lola, when he suffered a broken upright on the run down the hill away from the Dunlop corner.

Hughes made it round to Tertre Rouge without lights and pulled off to the side of the road to make repairs before getting round to the pit after a 35-minute delay. At the end of the hour, the Lola remained in the pits under repair.

That handed the class lead back to the Barazi Epsilon Zytek of Haruki Kurosawa, who was making up ground having stopped to change the brake fluid.

In GT1, Tomas Enge lowered the lap record to 3:51.119 in the leading Aston Martin to stretch his lead over teammate David Brabham. Johnny O'Connell continues to run in third place in the Corvette C6.R.

Jaime Melo leads GT2 in the Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GT. The GPC Ferrari suffered a right rear puncture but made it back to the pits and continues to run ninth in class.
