Coronel set for Le Mans return
Tom Coronel is set to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours with Spyker this season, following a two-year absence from the event
The Dutchman, who would be competing in the 24 Hours for the ninth time, missed out in 2007 and 2008 due to calendar clashes between Le Mans and the World Touring Car Championship, in which he races for SEAT.
Coronel will also contest the Le Mans Series for the Dutch manufacturer and is looking forward to returning to the GT2 class with the team.
"Unfortunately, the last two years I had to skip Le Mans as I am committed to SEAT in the WTCC," said Coronel. "I always regretted that I could not do Le Mans as it is one of the biggest single races in the world. This year there are no clashes, it all falls into place.
"Le Mans is simply special, so when the opportunity came along there was no doubt in taking up the chance to work together again."
Spyker's entry for this race will not be confirmed until race organisers the ACO reveal the list of accepted applications later this month, but the team are confident that their recent appearances in the event and commitment to the LMS will guarantee them a place.
No other drivers have yet been confirmed, though Spyker are negotiating with last year's drivers Peter Dumbreck and Ralf Kelleners.
