Rick Kelly wins race three

Toll HSV Dealer Team's Rick Kelly took his first race win for the year as he won the final race of the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge at Surfers Paradise

Rick moved up to second at the start behind brother Todd after pole sitter Garth Tander made a slow getaway, before coming out ahead of Todd after he pitted on lap nine, heading on to take the victory.

Another strong performance for Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom made it three third places in three races over the weekend.

Todd Kelly's race one win and two second places gave him the overall round win, Winterbottom second with Rick Kelly finishing third overall.

Rick Kelly's strong performances meant he moved to 30 points behind points leader Craig Lowndes, Winterbottom next closest but 318 points behind Lowndes.

Lowndes look set to finish fifth, and possibly fourth as he hounded Jason Bright lap after lap. However, as they completed lap 19, Lowndes again got inside Bright exiting the last corner.

This compromised his exit however, so much so that Russell Ingall was able to move alongside as they began lap 20. Into turn one, Lowndes and Ingall duelled side-by-side, Ingall's nose centimetres in front of Lowndes'.

Two into one wouldn't go, and Ingall went through the chicane while Lowndes had to go straight ahead, emerging in front of Ingall.

Despite Lowndes apparently letting Ingall in front before the end of the lap, he was given a drive-through penalty for either not letting Ingall through immediately, or for cutting the chicane. A top five ended up as a 14th place finish.

However, he faired better than some other drivers, an incident at the start taking seven cars out of the race including Mark Skaife.
