The technical director of British Touring Car Championship operation Team BMR has left the squad to take up a role in the Australian Supercars series

Designer of BTCC title-winning Subaru Faux makes Supercars switch

Carl Faux, who joined Team BMR in 2015 after designing the race-winning Triple Eight Racing MG6, helped lead the team to the drivers' championship spoils as Ash Sutton lifted the 2017 title in the factory-backed Subaru Levorg.

Faux penned the estate-shaped Levorg, which has won 14 races over the last two seasons.

Team BMR also won the teams' championship and independent drivers' championship in 2015 with Colin Turkington the VW CC, a machine that had been reworked by Faux.

He will take up a new role with the Walkinshaw Andretti United outfit in Australian Supercars.

Andretti Autosport and United Autosports have recently bought into the existing Walkinshaw Racing Supercars concern, which runs Holden Commodores in the series.

"With the group of staff at BMR, it is at a position where it can continue to grow and improve without me," said Faux.

"The seeds that were planted a long time ago can grow and bloom for the next generation of staff.

"I will keeping a close eye on Team BMR and have a quiet cheer for the successes that they will have, and I know there will be many.

"The crew is one of the very best I have worked with and I am very sad to be leaving them behind.

"But my future is in Australian Supercars. It will not be my first exposure to the series and my first sustained efforts in the championship.

"It will be a new challenge in a new country."
