Ambrose Under Investigation

Ambrose was given a drivethrough penalty in race two after a first corner incident which left Ambrose at the back of the field and Holden driver Mark Skaife with broken steering. After charging back up to fifth place by the end of the race, Ambrose was given an additional 25 point penalty for his role in the incident.

It is believed that the comments he made after this race have landed him in hot water, Ambrose suggesting that the penalty was a 'square-up' for choosing not to penalise him at the previous round at Pukekohe where he was involved in incidents with Craig Lowndes soon after the start in races one and three.

Ambrose's comments are being reviewed to see if they may be seen as either being prejudicial to the interests of the meeting or likely to bring the sport of motor racing into disrepute. If Ambrose is found guilty, he could be fined up to $15 000 and/or have up to 85 points deducted from his points total and/or be excluded from the race or round.
