James Courtney has extended his deal with top V8 Supercars squad Holden Racing Team for a further three years.
The 2010 series champion joined HRT from Dick Johnson Racing following his title-winning season, but has struggled for consistent frontrunning form in that time.
His only HRT win so far came in his first event with the team in Abu Dhabi two years ago.
But the 33-year-old has made good progress in recent months, becoming a regular podium finisher again.
Team managing director Steve Hallam said HRT had no hesitation at all in re-signing Courtney.
"James was our first choice, and we worked hard on a satisfactory arrangement for him to stay at HRT," Hallam said.
"James has been a contributor to our development programme and we were very keen for him to continue.
"I'm sure we will achieve more success with him behind the wheel of an HRT Commodore."
