Hedstroms Motorsport will enter the 2014 World Rallycross Championship with what it hopes will be a two-car team of Skoda Fabias.
Lead driver Peter Hedstrom, who has been part of the squad's European rallycross programme since his 2007 debut, will stay on, with negotiations with other drivers ongoing.
Team principal Anders Hedstrom said: "Peter will do the full championship, and we are speaking to lots of people at the moment about the second car. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next months."
A multiple champion team in Swedish rallycross, Hedstroms also ran rally star PG Andersson in its home round of the European series.
Peter Hedstrom finished 10th in the 2013 European standings, but Anders Hedstrom wants to ramp up the team's technical roster for the world series.
"We are looking for a full-time chief engineer who can bring some good rallycross knowledge with them into the team," he said.
"That is where we are missing out, I think. With someone like that involved we can be strong.
"Private teams still have a good chance, that is one of the reasons why the World Rallycross Championship will be so good."
