Formula 1's 2026 cars present a very different challenge to the drivers. Racing this year will not only rely on natural aptitude and reflex, but on mental acuity and bandwidth to get the most out of the new generation of machines. What does it take to be successful, and where are the limits with the new-for-2026 cars? Autosport visited the Williams F1 team at its Grove HQ to speak to Harrison Scott, the team's simulator driver. Keen to offer his insight into the new cars, Harrison spoke to us about the new driving experience versus the old cars, and the additional challenges that drivers and engineers will have to work through across the season as they adapt to the new powertrains. He also explained how his role in the simulator will help Williams' race team gather data and test their options before they reach the circuit.

Making an immediate impact in Formula 1 can be extremely tough. As Cadillac and Audi – one a new entity, the other having taken over Sauber – prepare for their debuts, we highlight the best performances by new teams in the history of the championship. In the latest of Autosport’s Top 10s, host Kevin Turner selects the 10 best world championship debuts by teams, while renowned F1 journalist and author Maurice Hamilton decides whether or not he agrees with the ranking. For this list, we have focused on the very first grand prix for each team, rather than the whole season. We have excluded constructors that were well established when the world championship began in 1950, so no Alfa Romeo (1-2-3 on its debut) or Ferrari (second at Monaco).

Championship winners and cars with multiple victories on their CVs usually grab the limelight when it comes to the greatest cars in Formula 1 history. But there have been some fantastic machines that have narrowly missed out on ultimate glory. We reckon they deserve recognition, too. So, in the latest of Autosport’s Top 10s, leading F1 journalist Maurice Hamilton joins host Kevin Turner to debate and discuss the 10 best F1 cars that never took a title. We’ve excluded the Lotus 78 because it played a part in Lotus’s title double in 1978 prior to the arrival of the 79 (much more so than the 312B3-74 did in 1975), as well as the 1991 Williams FW14 due to its similarity to the gizmo-laden B version that dominated in 1992.
The "Ground Effect" era is officially over, and with the 2026 regulations, the Formula 1 grid has just undergone its most radical mechanical transformation in years. While McLaren and Red Bull dominated the last four years with a front pull-rod setup, the tide has officially turned. In this video, we break down why the pull-rod was the "undisputed King of Aero" during the 2022–2025 seasons and why almost every team, including giants like Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull, has suddenly reverted to push-rod suspension for 2026. In This Video: - The "Ground Effect" Legacy: How suspension became the mechanical lock for under-car airflow. - Pull-Rod vs. Push-Rod: Why Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari previously prioritised floor-feed aerodynamics. - The 2026 Shift: Why shrinking cars and new power units have led to a push-rod revival. - The Grid Split: Why Alpine, Williams, and Cadillac are the last three teams holding onto different philosophies. The cars are smaller, the regulations are new, and the suspension war is just getting started. Is the return to push-rod the right move for the front-runners? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

What makes a race truly legendary? Is it a wet-weather masterclass, a relentless wheel-to-wheel duel, or an underdog story that defies the odds?
As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th year, we move beyond the championship permutations to rank the sheer quality of the racing itself. In this episode, we dive into the definitive list of the Greatest Grand Prix ever held.
From the high-speed slipstreaming battles of Monza to the courage-testing curves of the Nürburgring, we debate which 10 races stand as the pinnacle of the sport’s history.
The Panel: Karun Chandhok: Former F1 driver and expert Sky Sports analyst. Kevin Turner: Autosport host. Roger Smith: Author and F1 historian.
Together, they assess our top-10 ranking, bringing Karun’s "from the cockpit" insight to 75 years of racing history. Does a tactical masterstroke at the Hungaroring beat a flat-out sprint at Spa? Our panel weighs the technical brilliance against the raw emotion of the world's most iconic races.
Discover the definitive list: For a deeper dive into the most iconic events since 1950, check out Smith and Turner’s new book, Formula 1 All the Races: The 100 Greatest Races.

Lando Norris has crowned himself the 2025 Formula 1 world champion. The McLaren driver managed to withstand all pressure during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and was visibly emotional after clinching the title. Norris explained in the champion’s press conference how important the lessons from the early part of this season have been, and what role the mental aspects have played in that process. Max Verstappen, for his part, still completed a memorable comeback and said that he feels better in Abu Dhabi now than he did twelve months ago. According to him, that is partly because the atmosphere within the team is better than it was a year ago and because Red Bull managed to turn the year around. That said, it does not automatically mean that everything at Red Bull will remain exactly the same for next year. Ronald Vording discusses it all in a new F1 Update, including the background to Helmut Marko’s hint in the paddock and the emotion shown by Gianpiero Lambiase. The episode concludes with attention for Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s disappointing season.

Max Verstappen did exactly what he needed to do on Saturday in Abu Dhabi: secure pole-position and put maximum pressure on McLaren heading into the race. Red Bull’s set-up changes proved effective to get rid of the understeer in sector 3, and once again Verstappen showed his ability to perform when the pressure is at its highest. Lando Norris also did what he needed to do by claiming a place on the front row, even though he looked a bit more nervous than normal during Q1. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella has already advised his driver to take absolutely no risks into Turn 1 on Sunday, all the more because the inside of the first corner at the Yas Marina Circuit can be treacherous. Ronald Vording analyses it all in a new episode of the F1 Update, including the question of whether Verstappen could opt for the Lewis Hamilton tactics from 2016 — backing up the field — and what that might mean for McLaren. The new episode also covers Ferrari’s disappointing qualifying session, with Lewis Hamilton being eliminated in Q1 for the third consecutive weekend, and Charles Leclerc admitting that he thought he was going to crash multiple times.

Lando Norris topped Friday practice in Abu Dhabi as McLaren started the weekend strongly. Oscar Piastri had a tougher day after giving up his FP1 seat to Pato O’Ward. Max Verstappen finished second, but Helmut Marko called the three-tenths gap to Norris “not a very comfortable situation,” while still expressing confidence that Red Bull can find pace before qualifying. Marko also doubts Mercedes or Ferrari can challenge Norris — pressure Verstappen could use. If that changes on race day, Zak Brown says McLaren is prepared to use team orders if needed, though Piastri won’t be asked to help from the start. Ronald Vording breaks it all down in the latest F1 Update, also touching on Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull promotion, another impressive day for Oliver Bearman, and Sauber’s farewell.
