Here are the stories of three such racers: a young karter acclimatising to racing with deafness, a national racer who isn't letting a rare form of muscular dystrophy stand in the way of his endurance-racing ambitions, and a man who was on the cusp of Formula 1 before an accident left him in a wheelchair - but who has rebounded to become a touring car champion.
