G-Drive eyes expansion to two cars for 2015 WEC
The G-Drive Racing squad could expand from one to two cars for next year's World Endurance Championship
G-Drive, which is run by OAK Racing, has fielded a solo entry for Roman Rusinov, Olivier Pla and Julien Canal in the full WEC this year, as well as an additional car in the colours of Russian oil company Gazprom at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.
It is now working to expand to two Ligier JSP2 LMP2 chassis, manufactured by OAK sister company Onroak Automotive, for the full eight-race series in 2015.
Team boss Philippe Dumas said: "We are working hard on this; it is definitely the plan."
Rusinov, who brought the G-Drive deal to OAK for this season, added: "We are working on this project, but a lot of factors need to come together."
Dumas also revealed that OAK and G-Drive were evaluating switching away from the benchmark Nissan V8 that has powered its works-run Morgan and Ligier chassis this season.
"We are looking at a different engine, which we think could be a good package," he explained.
WEC boss Gerard Neveu is expecting an upturn in entries in LMP2 from the four cars that have competed in all the races so far this season.
"Eight cars would be reasonable and I think that would be achievable," he said.
