Rockingham gets PowerTour date
British Motorsport Promoters has confirmed that the brand new Rockingham racetrack will host a round of the PowerTour motorsport package on June 10
The new-look PowerTour, which continues to be headlined by the Green Flag British Formula 3 and Privilege Insurance GT championships, now includes TVR Tuscans, Slick 50 Formula Ford, Porsche Cup and Ford Fiestas. The package will race on the new venue's 2.6-mile international road course circuit, as opposed to its American-style oval track which will host the FedEx Champ Car series in September.
"We are delighted that PowerTour will be racing at Rockingham in its inaugural year," said BMP chairman Robert Fearnall. "We are delighted that Rockingham shares in the pursuit of BMP's objectives."
As well as its PowerTour date, Rockingham will also host a round of the British Superbike series - but not BMP's TOCATour package, which includes the British Touring Car Championship.
"We are delighted that our efforts in creating a top class facility has been reflected in our winning two of Britain's premier events in our opening year," said Rockingham CEO David Grace.
