Bellm to take over from Brundle at BRDC

Ray Bellm has been appointed to succeed Martin Brundle as the chairman of the British Racing Drivers' Club. He will be at the helm from the start of 2004.

Having served four years as chairman, it is time for Brundle to step down from one of the top positions in British motorsport. As the owner of Silverstone, the BRDC has an important role to play in the success and future of the British Grand Prix. Brundle has been widely acknowledged as having done a fine job in the post.

Bellm has had a highly successful career in business and racing. He won two world championship sportscar class titles and won the Global GT championship in 1996.

"A massive thank you to Martin Brundle for his unstinting effort and leadership he's put in over the last four years," said club President Sir Jackie Stewart, who continued: "Ray Bellm has exactly the right combination of experience and skills to work through the many challenges for the club's operation and activities in the future."
