Vickers Wins Open

Brian Vickers won the Nextel All-Star Challenge Open tonight following contact on the run to the finish line on the final lap to advance to the Nextel All-Star Challenge

Vickers Wins Open

The race had been dominated by Mike Bliss and Travis Kvapil, the two drivers swapping the lead back and forth during the race, with Vickers joining them in the closing laps.

With five laps remaining Kvapil's challenge was over as Bliss held onto the lead from Vickers. Vickers was close but didn't look like challenging for the win.

But on the last lap Vickers closed in, and entering turn three three they were nose to tail. As the came off turn four they were still nose to tail.

As they ran to the line Bliss moved to stay on the racing line. Vickers' nose was there though, and with a tap, Bliss was sent spinning sideways as Vickers stole the win.
