Third Earnhardt for Winston Cup

Seven-time Winston Cup champion Dale, plus his son and Winston Cup rookie phenomenon Dale Jr, are set to be joined by Earnhardt's eldest son, Kerry.

The last time a father and two sons started a race in NASCAR's premier division was in August 1960, when Lee Petty raced against his sons Richard and Maurice in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kerry, whose 2000 record includes a Pocono victory in the lesser ARCA stock car series, will attempt to qualify NASCAR veteran Dave Marcis's Team Realtree entry, albeit with a Chevrolet Monte Carlo supplied by his father's Dale Earnhardt Inc team.

"I couldn't be more pleased," said Kerry Earnhardt. "There'll be a lot of pressure, but it's all worth it for the shot I'm getting."

Earnhardt Snr added: "Dave and I talked about doing this with Kerry a couple of months ago. After he won at Pocono, we atlked about it again. As it stands, we'll provide the car, Dave will provide tremendous experience and Kerry, well he has to provide a good qualifying time."
