Stewart buys Eldora oval
Former NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart has bought his own racetrack

The Joe Gibbs Racing star, who finished sixth in this year's 'Chase for the Cup' and owns his own World of Outlaws sprint car team, has acquired one of sprint car racing's most famous venues - the Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
Stewart competed in sprint car racing in the late-'80s and early-'90s and was winner of the prestigious Triple Crown in 1995. He moved up to the Indy Racing League and then NASCAR. Stewart vividly remembers racing at the 20,000-seat half-mile clay oval he has acquired from Earl Baltes, who owned the track since it opened in 1954.
"I appreciate the confidence Earl has shown in me. When he told me he really wanted me to have the place, that was what I needed to hear to go forward with it," Stewart told the Indianapolis Star. "One of the reasons Earl sold to me is that he knew I wouldn't need income out of it. I have a job."
"Anything we make, we can put right back into it. Looking five, 10, 20 years down the road, I'll be hands-on with that," he added. "But, for now, I just want to be able to enjoy myself when I go there, just like I always have."
