Kyle Busch wins Loudon Nationwide

Kyle Busch beat his team-mate Joey Logano to score his fifth Nationwide Series win of the season in the Camping World RV Sales 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Although he did not lead the most laps as he had done for the past eight races, Busch was still able to get in control of the race when it most mattered, racing with a more "methodical" approach.

Busch started from ninth and did not make his usual quick charge to the front, only breaking into the top-five on lap 70. He continued to make slow progress and by the time of the last pitstops on lap 159 he was challenging Logano for the lead.

Following the last restart and after timing his move, Busch worked his way past his 19-year-old team-mate to take the lead with 35 laps remaining and stayed ahead until the chequered flag waved.

Logano closely followed him, keeping the pressure up until the last lap, but was not able to threaten Busch's victory.

"It really was a methodical race," said Busch. "We had a plan all the way through there, we had a strategy, we had to work our way up one car at a time and I don't think we put a mark on this [car] all day long. Really a great called race by [crew chief Jason] Ratcliff.

"I was very concerned in the end. I ran out of battery and was halfway on my number one battery. Unfortunately we had an alternator problem or something like that under the hood. I went to battery two and didn't run any [brake] fans for the rest of the race."

Logano admitted he did not have anything for Busch in the closing stages, despite spending 108 laps - more than half the distance - at the front of the field.

"He was just better than us," said Logano. "We were real loose to start off and that kind of got us behind. Once we were kind of behind him we got in that dirty air and couldn't get back by him. I was digging as hard as I could, I killed about every tyre on this thing just trying to get everything out, but just came up short."

Brad Keselowski ran a solid race to yet another third-place finish, the third consecutive for the JR Motorsports driver. Mike Bliss finished fourth by gambling on fuel in the end, staying on the track while the leaders pitted for the last time under the final caution of the day.

Kevin Harvick rounded out the top-five in a quiet race, while Carl Edwards had a disappointing afternoon after looking strong early on. On lap 60 he grabbed the lead from Logano and stayed up front until a delayed second pitstop dropped him down to ninth place.

His final stop was not good either and combining his pitstops he lost eleven positions in the pits. The fact that his main rival for the championship claimed victory made the result even bitterer for the former Nationwide Series champion.

The race had a controversial ending for Sprint Cup Red Bull team-mates Scott Speed and Brian Vickers, who were involved in an incident on the final lap while fighting for fourth place with Bliss into the last corner.

While Vickers, competing for Braun Racing, was entering Turn 3 on the inside of Bliss, Speed hit the left rear corner of Vickers' Toyota, sending him into a spin and against the wall.

After the race was over and while driving back to the pits, Vickers repeatedly hit the back of Speed's Michael Waltrip Racing car, showing his anger at the move that cost him a top-five finish. While the former Formula 1 driver finished eighth, Vickers only managed 12th.

"The three of us went into the corner all together and once we got through the middle they slowed up a bit more than I could and I was on the brakes as much as I could but couldn't quite slow up," Speed said.

"So I just touched the back of Brian, but we were all so far outside on the corner anyways that we didn't have maximum grip so we both went up the racetrack and it's unfortunate for both of us."

Vickers, who was making his 100th Nationwide Series start, did not quite share Speed's view of the incident.

"He said we slowed down for the turn," Vickers said. "I don't know how to get through a turn other than to slow down. I don't know what his problem is. I don't know if he's frustrated because he runs so bad in the Cup Series. He just flat ran into us. I've never had a team-mate do that before."

Kyle Busch has increased his lead in the drivers' standings up to 162 points over Edwards, while Keselowski is already 243 points behind in third.
