Busch angry at stewards

Busch was in the lead when entering the pitlane for a scheduled pitstop when a caution came out after Joe Nemechek spun his car.

NASCAR rules state that under the first stages of a caution period the pitlane is closed, shown by a red light, to stop cars gaining an advantage by pitting quickly. The red light duly came on as Busch approached the pits.

However, the judgment appeared harsh because television replays showed that Busch was less than six feet ahead of the commitment line when the red light came on - he had no time to react and swerve off pit road as a result.

NASCAR argued that if Busch had just driven through pitlane and not stopped he wouldn't have served a penalty, however, Busch understandably believed he had entered the pitlane under green flag conditions.

Busch was then told to go to the tail end of the longest line of cars at the restart as a penalty, but after a mix-up in radio communications, he restarted second before letting the field drive past, thereby policing himself for his penalty.

"We put ourselves in position for NASCAR to make a call and it didn't
end up in our favour," Busch said. "That's the bottom. We're going to stand here and discuss it, but it doesn't do any good now.

"We were 10th going into the last lap. There was a yellow back in the inner loop and
we spun to avoid it, but they didn't freeze the field like they did last week. Each week it's a new call and when you put yourself in position for them to make a call they're not going to make it.

"There was no missing the commitment line. I was on pit road when the green light was on when I made it.

"There was a lot of disappointed fans. I'm disappointed, but we'll go in the truck and we'll try to discuss it and see what we can do about it. It definitely was our race to win, but we didn't win today."
