Burton on Michigan pole
Jeff Burton has taken pole for this weekend's Nextel Cup race, the GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Speedway
Burton was nearly two-tenths faster in his Chevrolet than Elliott Sadler's Dodge, Sadler's competing in his first weekend for Evernham Motorsports after leaving Robert Yates Racing to take Jeremy Mayfield's ride.
Matt Kenseth made it three makes in the top three places in qualifying, as he put his Ford in third place. Ryan Newman and last weekend's winner Kevin Harvick complete the top five.
Elliott Sadler's replacement at Robert Yates, rookie David Gilliland, acquitted himself well and qualified 26th, seven places ahead of last year's Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart.
