Biffle Wins in Michigan

Greg Biffle has taken his fifth win this season by cruising to victory in the Batman Begins 400 at the Michigan International Speedway

It was also a strong performance for his Roush Racing team, who claimed their eighth win for the season and four of the top five positions in the race today - Tony Stewart in second was the only non-Roush driver ahead of Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards.

Stewart led for 97 laps but lost the lead to Biffle after pitting during a late caution period with 31 laps to go - Biffle had already stopped 12 laps earlier and took the top spot, which he was never to relinquish.

"It was my decision," Biffle later acknowledged about the decision to stay out. "It's just so hard to pass here. I was hoping that six or eight guys would stay with us and give Tony some people to have to burn his tires off to try to catch us."

The move went to plan, and Biffle was able to take an easy win which Stewart was trying to find a way back to the front.

"They may have got us at the end, but we held our own," Stewart later stated. "We had fresher tires at the end but, for some reason, they didn't take off the way they had all day. I probably overdrove the car to try to get to the lead again."

It was to be in vain for Stewart, and the win puts Biffle in second place in the standings, just 49 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson and ahead of Elliot Sadler, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin.
