Biffle takes first season win

Biffle, who came close to winning in three previous races, dominated the event, which saw almost half the field have involved in incidents, spins and brushing the walls of the egg-shaped oval.

Among those caught out were pole-sitter Kasey Kahne, who finished in 21st - a lap behind Biffle - and reigning Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart, who spun midway through the race and then nursed his car to 12th.

This was Biffle's second Darlington win, leading 170 of the race's 367 laps.

Gordon, a six-time Darlington winner, was catching up to Biffle in the final 25 laps but was unable to overtake him.

Matt Kenseth finished third, followed by Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson in fourth. Dale Earnhardt Jr, who suffered from the flu, hung in there to finish fifth.
