Biffle on Busch pole at Michigan

Greg Biffle was able to compensate for some of the disappointment of losing the pole for the Nextel Cup race at Michigan yesterday by claiming pole position for the Busch Series Carfax 250 today

Biffle set a time of 38.596 seconds at an average speed of 186.584 mph in his No. 16 Roush Fenway Ford. Beside him in the front row for today's race will be Toyota's Brian Vickers.

"I held my breath the whole lap and it's been a long time since I've not come off the gas around here," said Biffle, who had not won a Busch Series pole since 2004. "The thing ran really well and sucked down on the race track really good."

David Ragan qualified third, showing how strong the Roush Fenway cars are running at Michigan this weekend. Ganassi's Reed Sorenson will start from the outside of the second row, lapping 0.343 seconds off from Biffle's time, with Denny Hamlin rounding up the top five.

Points' leader Carl Edwards was 15th behind David Reutimann, just as in Nextel Cup qualifying yesterday. Mark Martin, racing the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports car, regularly driven by Kyle Busch, was 22nd.

Twenty-one Nextel Cup drivers, nearly half the field, will be competing today in the Busch Series race, although last year's winner, Dale Earnhardt Jr, will not be among them.
