Biffle leads Roush front row

Greg Biffle will lead a Roush Racing all front row in tomorrow's Crown Royal 400 Nextel Cup race, after taking pole position ahead of teammate Mark Martin

Biffle lapped the 0.75-mile oval in Richmond, Virginia, in 21.194 seconds - 0.061 faster than Martin - to capture his second season pole, and his third Cup career pole.

But Biffle, who has qualified in the top ten in all races this season - but finished worse than 30th in three of the last four, said qualifying is not the part that worries him.

"For some reason I've figured out how to go fast for two laps," Biffle said. "now I need to work on the 400 laps part! I don't need to win here, but I've got to finish in the top five."

Martin's 127.029mph lap appeared to be the fastest of the season, but the veteran, who has need been on pole since the Richmond race in 2001, admitted he knew Biffle would beat him.

"When I found out Biffle hadn't gone yet, I knew I was had," Martin said.

Casey Mears and Brian Vickers will start the race on the second row, while Cup points leader Jimmie Johnson will start from fifth place, alongside Kasey Kahne in sixth.
