The American Le Mans Series intends to add a street race in Oklahoma City to its calendar from 2013.
The partnership with the OKC Motorsports organisation would see the ALMS race around the city's Adventure District in mid-May. The current calendar features a gap between Long Beach in April and the string of July/August races that happen in quick succession after teams' trips to the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Championship boss Scott Atherton said the Oklahoma event was just one of several potential new additions for the coming years.
"We have also been approached by several other parties to host new events as soon as next year, both street courses and traditional road courses," he said.
"Right now, even in the midst of our 2011 season, we continue to evaluate each proposed venue and are eager to expand our schedule to fans throughout North America."
