Alex Brundle will return to the Formula 2 championship in 2011, following a year in F3 last season.
The 20-year-old Briton, son of former grand prix driver Martin Brundle, raced in F2 in 2009 before moving to British F3 last year. But will he come back to F2 this season after being encouraged by his pace in winter testing.
"I'm very excited to be back," he said. "I really enjoyed winter testing and the performances I was able to give helped swing the decision to rejoin F2.
"My aspiration is to be able to race as a career and I need to demonstrate my ability and credentials in order to do that. F2 gives me that opportunity. I was very competitive in the winter tests and I've grown up in turbo single-seaters, so I'm very confident and excited about the season.
"I feel I've improved as a driver over the last year, so it will be interesting to see how I get on. I'm not one to make claims before pre-season testing has even begun, but I'm looking forward to applying what I have learned and I think I have a chance to do well."
F2 boss Jonathan Palmer added: "I'm delighted Alex is returning to Formula 2. He was really quick in our very competitive winter testing and I certainly expect Alex to be fighting for the title."
