Adrien Tambay will replace James Jakes at Manor Racing for this weekend's GP3 round in Hungary.
Tambay, an ex-Formula 3 Euro Series driver for ART Grand Prix, will make his debut in the GP2 feeder series while Jakes recovers from an injury he sustained at the previous round. The GP3 regular damaged the ligaments in his right arm at Hockenheim in a heavy collision with Carlin driver, Josef Newgarden.
Tambay will drive the car for the first time in tomorrow's practice session.
"I'm really looking forward to Budapest," he said. "I don't know the car but I guess it should not be that different from the F3 I was driving last year. I'm also proud to drive for Manor GP3, a British team which has a fantastic pedigree."
The 19-year old is grateful for the opportunity, which he expects to be a one-off.
"Although this is a single opportunity for me this season and although there might be a lot of catching-up to do," said Tambay. "I'm ready for the challenge and I'll do my best, as usual."
Tambay - the son of former Ferrari Formula 1 star Patrick - is competing in the Auto GP series this year, and won the third round's opening race at Imola.
