Renault-Sport has announced an entry of 24 cars for this coming weekend's opening Formula Renault 3.5 round at Motorland Aragon.
Interwetten.com Racing - managed by Motorsport Consulting GmbH - was not selected, but a new team, FHV Interwetten.com - managed by FHV GmbH - makes its debut in the series with Euro F3 Open champion Bruno Mendez and Spanish driver Sergio Canamasas at the wheel.
Pre-season pacesetter SG Formula will not participate in the series. Stephane Guerin's team had entered the championship at the third meeting of 2009 at Monaco, having been enticed to purchase the equipment from Belgian team KTR by their Russian driver Anton Nebylitskiy's sponsors.
Red Bull Junior driver Jean-Eric Vergne, who had hoped to compete with the French outfit in a parallel campaign to his British Formula 3 programme with Carlin, was left disappointed with the news.
"The problem is that SG Formula does not have a second driver and without one there is no chance to race," said Vergne. "It's a big shame as it's not like we were P10 in testing, we were always among the fastest. It is such a shame."
Elsewhere, Czech team ISR has confirmed that it will start the season with Esteban Guerrieri. The Argentinean was a race winner in FR3.5 with Ultimate Motorsport in 2008 and showed well in his only race of 2009 at the Motorland finale.
