Former GP2 racer Nelson Panciatici has announced a move into Formula Renault 3.5 with the Lotus Racing Junior Team.
The Wellingborough-based outfit, owned by Lotus Formula 1 third driver Fairuz Fauzy, competed under the Mofaz Racing banner last season.
Frenchman Panciatici, from Asnieres-sur-Seine near Paris, was a member of the Renault Driver Development programme in 2007.
A middling year of Formula Renault 2.0, his third in the category, was disrupted by a mid-season change of team and led to a parting of ways with RDD. His career momentum was recovered through clinching the runner-up position in the following year's Spanish Formula 3 Championship.
Panciatici then stepped into GP2 with Durango in 2009, but was unable to register a points finish. However the 21-year-old was a winner in the ORECA Sportscars Winter Series during the close season.
Although the identity of Lotus Racing Junior Team's second driver is as yet unannounced, it is thought unlikely that Malaysian Fauzy will remain in the series for a fourth term.
