Roberto Merhi has lost his pole position for the Formula Renault 3.5 season finale for impeding another car in qualifying.
The Spaniard - who is fighting with Pierre Gasly to finish as runner-up to Carlos Sainz Jr in the standings - was one of three drivers given a two-place grid drop for holding up other cars.
That penalty drops Merhi to third, promoting Gasly to the front row alongside new polesitter Oliver Rowland.
Merhi was judged to have impeded Marlon Stockinger at the final chicane, while Zoel Amberg was also penalised for holding up Jazeman Jaafar at the last corner.
The second Zeta Corse car of Roman Mavlanov picked up the same penalty for impeding Matthieu Vaxiviere at Turn 5, but that one makes no difference to his starting position as he qualified last.
