Summary

Status: Stopped
It's been an incredible day in MotoGP. Congratulations to Marc Marquez on a sensational campaign and a well-deserved sixth premier class title.

But the fun doesn't end there. We still have four more races to run, starting in Japan in two weeks' time.

Thanks for your company, and do join us in Motegi for more scintillating MotoGP action.
Quartararo: "If I didn't try this move at the last corner, I wouldn't go home 'normal'."

Sounds very much like the Marquez mentality!

Quartararo and Marquez embrace in parc ferme. The tears have transformed to a smile. It's a heartbreaking defeat, but he pushed him harder than he did at Misano and got even closer to that first win. To lose a last-lap battle to one of the greatest riders every by just a tenth is nothing to be ashamed of - and must surely have Marquez just a smidgen worried going into next year.
It just goes to show: no matter what the other manufacturers do with their bikes year on year, they can do nothing about Marquez.
This must surely go down as Marquez's best title yet? Just look at where the other Honda riders were in this race - Nakagami 10th, Crutchlow 12th, Lorenzo 18th. This has been the case for most of the year. This RC213V is not even remotely the best bike on the grid, yet Marquez has finished all but one race inside the top two this year and wins the title with four races to spare with a margin of 105 points.

Brilliant celebration for Marquez. He pots the eight ball on a pool table.
Marquez now joins an elite group of riders to win four-straight premier class titles after Rossi, Doohan and Hailwood. He has truly earned his place amongst those legends.
Marc Marquez. 26 years old and a six-time MotoGP world champion. There are no more superlatives for this man. For just one year this decade he has not been a world champion in any class of grand prix racing. One of the all-time greats, there is no doubt.
Vinales crosses the line third, Dovizioso fourth from Rins, Morbidelli, Mir, Rossi, Petrucci, Nakagami, Bagnaia, Crutchlow, Pol Espargaro, Miller, Iannone, Oliveira, Rabat, Lorenzo, Abraham, Syahrin.
Quartararo is gutted. Once again he's come so close, yet so far. What a performance from the rookie, though. He can be proud of that.
Marquez knew the attempt was coming from Quartararo and just cut it back to get the run.
What a race!
Quartararo goes up the inside at Turn 12. Marquez wins and he is the 2019 world champion!
Marquez goes late into Turn 3 and gets the job done! Marquez leads.
One lap to go and it's Quartararo from Marquez.
Marquez had a look at Turn 6, but couldn't quite get it done.
Quartararo hooks it up out of Turn 3 and keeps Marquez at bay.
Onto the penultimate lap. Don't think Marquez will be close enough to do much at Turn 3.
Much like Misano, whatever happens now, Quartararo has covered himself in glory again. Easily top Yamaha, and offering Marquez the sternest of challenges he's faced for some time.
Marquez had a faint to the inside of Turn 4, but thinks better of it. Three laps to go in Thailand.
Here comes Marquez again at Turn 3, but Quartararo is wise to it and holds the inside line.
Marquez tries to pass around the outside of Turn 3 with four laps to go, but runs wide and lets the SRT rider back into the lead.
We have six laps to go in Thailand. Vinales is comfortable in third now, with Dovizioso just about keeping Rins at bay for fourth.
Marquez has had a few chances to overtake Quartararo, but is boxing smart and making sure it's not going to be a high-risk move. He's calculating how he can win the title while also winning the race.
The pace from the top two was so hot early on the hoped for pack race sadly hasn't materialised. However, I think we could be in for another last-lap thriller between Marquez and Quartararo here.
Marquez is really hounding Quartararo through sector two, but the SRT rider is absorbing this pressure well, though.
Onto lap 19 now and it's still Quartararo and Marquez line astern. Vinales is closing ever so slightly, but he really needs the top to engage if he has even the faintest hope of fighting for the win now.
Aleix Espargaro has pulled into the pits. He was running a strong 10th at a difficult circuit for the Aprilia. That's cruel luck.
Marquez is right behind Quartararo now. Is a move imminent?
This race has been indicative of Dovizioso's season. He was good early on, doing what he needed to, but ultimately it's not been enough to stop Marquez. He's still marooned in fourth, with Rins bearing down on him with 10 laps to go.
Marquez closes in through the first two sectors with the power of the Honda, but Quartararo is using the Yamaha's agility to keep him at bay through the final two sectors.
Quartararo has offered Marquez an answer to his latest set of questions. He was slightly quicker on lap 14.
Vinales was three tenths quicker than the top two last time around. He'd be a big factor in this battle for the win if he didn't go AWOL in those early laps.
Marquez is right with Quartararo again on lap 13.
Just looking outside of the top 10, Nakagami is 11th from Bagnaa, Pol Espargaro, Oliveira, Iannone, Crutchlow, Rabat, Miller, Lorenzo, Abraham, Syahrin.
Vinales's pace has picked up again, but he's conceded too much ground to make the difference now.
