Summary

Status: Stopped
Here's the full report from that qualifying session and the provisional grid. There'll be more from Autosport Live at 7am UK time tomorrow as Formula 1's Chinese Grand Prix gets going, then we'll be back on MotoGP duty at 7.45pm to see if anyone can actually deny Marquez an Austin win:
Austin MotoGP: Marc Marquez takes seventh COTA pole
Q2 result:

1 Marquez
2 Rossi
3 Crutchlow
4 Miller
5 P Espagaro
6 Vinales
7 Rins
8 Petrucci
9 Quartararo
10 Morbidelli
11 Lorenzo
12 Bagnaia
And title contender Dovizioso starts down in 13th after his Q1 exit.
And that's it for qualifying at Austin - seven poles from seven MotoGP events here for the unstoppable Marquez.
Vinales can only manage sixth ahead of Rins and Petrucci.
Rossi stays second, Miller remains fourth.
Marquez doesn't improve, but no one looks capable of taking his pole away.
Bagnaia has his second crash of qualifying, this time at Turn 1. He's unhurt but he'll start 12th.
Lorenzo can't improve, he stays 11th as he takes the chequered flag.
Lorenzo is down to 11th after a flurry of improvements around him.
These will be the final laps - Rins goes fastest of all in sector one but Marquez immediately beats him there.
Third place changes hands three times in very, very quick succession - Pol Espargaro takes it for KTM, then Miller beats him, then Crutchlow beats them both.
Rossi completes his lap and closes to within 0.273s of Marquez.
Miller takes third, but only briefly before Rins grabs it from him.
Lorenzo has moved himself up to sixth on his spare bike.
Bagnaia is back out after his earlier crash.
Rossi is faster than Marquez's current lap in sector two too, but both are off Marquez's initial benchmark.
Rossi sets a new fastest first sector time, but Marquez beats it by 0.002s moments later.
Now the rest of the field starts coming back for final runs. Current order: 1 Marquez; 2 Rossi; 3 Miller; 4 Vinales; 5 Rins; 6 Crutchlow; 7 Petrucci; 8 Quartararo; 9 Morbidelli; 10 Lorenzo; 11 P Espargaro; 12 Bagnaia
Lorenzo is back out on his spare bike and currently has the track to himself.
Huge apologies - got the Hondas the wrong way around, probably influenced by nostalgia for when Marquez had to do the Austin pitlane sprint. It was Lorenzo whose bike broke on the pits straight and had to run back, Marquez is still cruising around on provisional pole.
Vinales goes back up to fourth, but he's still 1.529s away from Marquez and 0.8s off second-placed Yamaha team-mate Rossi.
Lorenzo is only 10th at the moment, 2.592s slower than team-mate Marquez up front.
Crutchlow is now fifth ahead of Petrucci, Vinales and Quartararo.
Rossi goes second, closing to within 0.733s of Marquez. Rins goes third, but Miller quickly beats him.
Even though his Honda's just broken down, Marquez is still sat on provisional pole by 2.066s over Vinales at the moment with eight and a half minutes left.
Marquez attempted to prop his Honda up on the pitwall but it slid down on its side. He's now running down pitlane to get on his spare bike.
Trouble for Marquez! He has to park his Honda on the main straight next to the pitwall.
Bagnaia has crashed his Pramac Ducati at the Turn 11 hairpin.
No one else is within 2.4s of Marquez yet.
Marquez sets the early benchmark with a 2m03.787s, even passing team-mate Lorenzo along the way.

We're up and running for Q2. Vinales beat Marquez yesterday. No one's done that in a MotoGP qualifying session at Austin yet. Is this the day?
That's the worst qualifying result for Dovizioso - our Qatar Grand Prix winner and Marquez's current closest rival - since he started 14th at Jerez two years ago. He's reached Q2 at every event since then.
So now Lorenzo and Petrucci go up against Vinales, Marquez, Valentino Rossi, Jack Miller, Cal Crutchlow, Alex Rins, Pol Espargaro, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia in Q2.
Here's how the back of the grid looks:

13 Dovizioso
14 Mir
15 Nakagami
16 A Espargaro
17 Iannone
18 Oliveira
19 Zarco
20 Abraham
21 Syahrin
22 Rabat
Dovizioso is out in Q1, he'll start 13th.
Lorenzo stays fastest, it's him and Petrucci who join the pole contenders in Q2.
Dovizioso doesn't make it - he's 0.016s off Petrucci and is only third!
Espargaro and Zarco finish their laps and are both out.
