Summary

Status: Stopped
With that, our live coverage for this spectacular qualifying session comes to an end. If tomorrow's race will be only half as entertaining, it will still be an unmissable end to the 2018 MotoGP season.
Vinales: "Incredible, I feel so happy. Was a long time for the pole but today I felt I can do it, if I feel right, I'm at my best I can do it. I bring the bike at the maximum. This weekend I felt great even on rain, let's see tomorrow but I am pretty curious to see if tomorrow we can continue with that moment. The last five races, it is going so great."
Rins: "Couple of crashes [this weekend], and the last crash, a little bit hard. Anyway I am very happy for third, first first row in my life in MotoGP. Tomorrow we don't know the weather conditions but if it is rain, if it is dry, I will give my 100%, I will try to enjoy and last race of the championship so I will try to give my maximum."
Dovizioso: "This morning already we improve on the wet, that was the target. In qualifying it was difficult when the condition is like this, half and half, become dry, but the bike worked well, I am happy. The speed was there, I am really happy to start in the first row because tomorrow looks like the condition will be strange, or wet. It's always important to start in front."

Pedrosa will start his last race from ninth and as rainy conditions are likely tomorrow, it will take a miracle for him to fight at the front.
Q1 results: 1 Vinales; 2 Rins; 3 Dovizioso; 4 Petrucci; 5 Marquez; 6 P. Espargaro; 7 Iannone; 8 A. Espargaro; 9 Pedrosa; 10 Miller; 12 Zarco; 13 Pirro.
Pol Espargaro also had a remarkable session in sixth and his brother Aleix Espargaro has to be also happy with eighth.
So it's fifth for Marquez, but that's still a ridiculous achievement, having dislocated his shoulder early in the session.
Vinales stays ahead and he takes his first pole position of the season. Rins takes a superb second, Dovizioso and Petrucci steal third and fourth from Marquez.
Chequered flag, Vinales is still ahead.
Zarco crashes after being fastest in the first two sectors.
Vinales sets a 1m31.312s, Marquez is third . Rins between the duo.
Rins falls just 0.021s short, but Vinales and Marquez are both set to improve.
Miller crashes for the fourth time this weekend.
Vinales takes the lead as Marquez moves up to third!
Four minutes to go, the field is just starting the second runs.
Marquez is indeed back on track! Whatever position he takes, this is a heroic performance already.
I was hesitant to declare that Marquez's qualifying is over because, well, it is Marquez we're talking about, and now it seems he is getting ready to go out on track.
Petrucci lowers his own benchmark by four tenths as Rins edges Dovizioso out for second.
Petrucci into the lead with a 1m31.930s.
Marquez rushes back to his team truck, his session is, naturally, over.
In the meantime Miller is in the lead with a 1m32.570s from Dovizioso and Zarco.
It seems he dislocated his shoulder, a reoccurring issue for him this year.
Marquez crashes on his first flyer and he appears to be hurt!
The 15-minute Q2 gets underway.
In the wet, Pramac duo Petrucci and Miller both looked strong enough to challenge Marquez for pole. In the dry, Dovizioso might be the Honda rider's strongest rival. One might hope Dani Pedrosa can pull off something magical on his last MotoGP qualifying.

Q2 field: Petrucci; Marquez; Dovizioso; Miller; Zarco; Pedrosa; P. Espargaro; Rins; A. Espargaro; Pirro; Iannone; Vinales.
This means Tom Luthi will start his last MotoGP race 17th, Alvaro Bautista 19th and Scott Redding 24th. Bradley Smith's final race for KTM will begin from 22nd.
Q1 results: 1 Iannone; 2 Vinales; 3 Lorenzo; 4 Nakagami; 5 Morbidelli; 6 Rossi; 7 Luthi; 8 Abraham; 9 Bautista; 10 Bradl; 11 Syahrin; 12 Smith; 13 Torres; 14 Redding.
Chequered flag, Iannone and Vinales make it to Q2. Lorenzo and Nakagami miss out by 0.042s and 0.07s respectively. Rossi is only sixth.
Lorenzo has time for another laps but it doesn't look like he will improve. Nakagami in fourth improved but didn't gain any places.
Lorenzo up to third from 11th, just 0.042s slower than Vinales!
One minute remaining, both Iannone and Vinales look safe to advance to Q2.
Rossi is up to fourth but he looks nowhere near fast enough to beat Iannone or Vinales.
Morbidelli temporarily takes the lead before Vinales and then Iannone move to first place. The Suzuki rider leads by nearly six tenths with a 1m31.382s.
It is Vinales and Takaaki Nakagami holding the first two positions with six minutes remaining. Lorenzo is up to third, but is still four tenths slower than the Japanese rookie.
The majority of the field pitted perhaps a bit earlier than expected, many riders including Vinales gave up personal best laps to change tyres.
Vinales indeed set a 1m32.418s to build a comfortable six-tenth lead. Lorenzo and Rossi are only seventh and 10th for now.
