Aragon MotoGP race

That's a wrap from us today, here's our report for a race that could very well prove decisive for the outcome of the 2017 MotoGP title race:
Marquez: "Was a really difficult race because the high temperature makes everything more and more difficult. From the beginning I didn't have feeling like in the warm-up and then I just was riding a little bit smoother, tried to come back with the feeling. But even in the end of the race the feeling was not the best one. Anyway I was able to open that small advantage, struggling more than the other years here - but you know, in front of all these fans was amazing [to win]."
Pedrosa: "Well, basically, I would say I'm very happy about this race because all weekend we've been quite competitive. Today in the race we were not sure about the tyre choice, because I choose the medium, in the rear, I had to try to be careful at the beginning. Unfortunately I did too many laps behind Maverick and there I lose a little bit of the gap at the beginning. But later we both improved the pace, and when I got past him, I could really catch the front group. But Marc was in the lead already and he could a little bit play with the gap. But I was feeling quite strong, so I'm very happy, I think I did the best race today of all and I'm very proud of my team. I can say that I'm happy because the rhythm at the end was strong and I can make a lot of passes. Unfortunately Valentino did a strange move to me in the main straight, he closed the door completely in the left at 300k per hour. So... too tight, too tight, not to give room to the rest. Not so nice, but fortunately I could go and pass him in that moment and then keep going forward to the podium."
Lorenzo: "Almost, almost victory, we've been very close, closer than ever. It's a pity to lose the victory for not so much. I think in the last 10 laps we needed a bit more grip on the rear, we chose the soft rear tyre, it was probably too soft - with the medium for Dani and the hard for Marc, they were a little bit faster, I couldn't follow them. I had to be happy with this third position."
Results: 1 Marquez; 2 Pedrosa; 3 Lorenzo; 4 Vinales; 5 Rossi; 6 A. Espargaro; 7 Dovizioso; 8 Bautista; 9 Zarco; 10 P. Espargaro; 11 Kallio; 12 Iannone; 13 Miller; 14 Redding; 15 Rabat; 16 Folger; 17 Rins; 18 Barbera; 19 Smith; 20 Petrucci; 21 Baz; 22 Lowes.
And he gets it done with little fuss. Marc Marquez wins the 2017 Aragon Grand Prix, his fourth win in the last six races.
But Marquez is instead pulling away even further. He's over a second ahead with just one lap remaining, and surely has this in the bag.
It's not looking spectacular for Dovizioso here, as he's now slipped behind Aleix Espargaro, down to seventh place. As they run, he will leave Aragon 16 points behind Marquez.
Their laptimes have absolutely cratered as a result, leaving the current podium riders three seconds up the road.
The gap between Marquez and Lorenzo has stabilised at five-seven tenths - but Pedrosa is closing in on both, at a rapid rate!
Five laps left to run, as Dovizioso runs wide trying to pick off Rossi and is passed by Vinales instead.
Current top 10: 1 Marquez; 2 Lorenzo; 3 Pedrosa; 4 Rossi; 5 Dovizioso; 6 Vinales; 7 A. Espargaro; 8 Bautista; 9 Zarco; 10 P. Espargaro.
Marquez all over Lorenzo before pulling off a rather spectacular late-braking move at the left-hander Turn 12. The reigning champion leads!
Pedrosa with a look at Dovizioso at Turn 16, forcing the Italian to brake later and run wide. The Honda rider is up to fourth and has Rossi in his sights.
Rossi and Dovizioso cannot keep with these two and they're both falling into the clutches of Pedrosa right now.
Marquez does the same move on Rossi as he'd managed on Dovizioso earlier, while Vinales runs wide at Turn 1 and allows Pedrosa through.
It doesn't look like Lorenzo is running that quick a pace out front - and Vinales is slowly but surely dragging the pack up towards the leaders as a result.
Marquez tries to pass Rossi at Turn 12 and way overshoots the corner, briefly overtaking Lorenzo in the process. He runs wide and rejoins fourth.
Running order rundown: 1 Lorenzo; 2 Rossi; 3 Marquez; 4 Dovizioso; 5 Vinales; 6 Pedrosa; 7 Crutchlow; 8 A. Espargaro; 9 Bautista; 10 Kallio; 11 Zarco; 12 P. Espargaro; 13 Iannone; 14 Miller; 15 Redding; 16 Petrucci; 17 Smith; 18 Rabat; 19 Rins; 20 Folger; 21 Baz; 22 Barbera; 23 Lowes; 24 Abraham.
Vinales riding a strange old race here, he's now matching the leaders' pace but not making any inroads. He's also not breaking away from the likes of Pedrosa or Crutchlow.
