Silverstone MotoGP: Injured Marc Marquez cleared to race in Britain

Marc Marquez has been passed fit to compete in the British Grand Prix despite dislocating his left shoulder in MotoGP warm-up just three hours before the race

The Spaniard, who currently leads the championship by 26 points from Dani Pedrosa and 44 from Jorge Lorenzo, will therefore line up on pole for today's race.

Marquez enters the race chasing a fifth straight win - a run only Valentino Rossi has been able to achieve in the last 13 years.

He dislocated his shoulder in a crazy crash at Vale in the final minutes of a cool warm-up session.

The 20-year-old was flicked from his Honda and sent flying through the gravel, and while able to walk away he instantly grabbed his left shoulder.

His bike meanwhile ploughed straight into the stricken Tech 3 Yamaha of Cal Crutchlow, who had crashed in similar fashion just moments earlier.

Crutchlow and several marshals were still in the gravel bed, and had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by Marquez's machine as it flicked into the air following the impact.

Marquez was immediately taken to the medical centre, where doctors were able to pop his shoulder back into place.

Rivals Lorenzo and Pedrosa have both been forced to miss races, and also ride while recovering from injuries, this season.
