MotoGP Brno: Marc Marquez tops crash-filled second practice
Honda's Marc Marquez topped an incident-packed second practice session for the Czech MotoGP at Brno, despite crashing again
Track conditions approached 50C in hot conditions, and Marquez was one of the few riders to improve on the time he set in the first session.
His 1m56.513s was logged early on in the 45-minutes of running, and even though he fell at Turn 7 in the closing stages - his second crash of the day after a morning incident at Turn 13 - it wasn't bettered.
Marquez ended the session 0.076 seconds ahead of Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, however Lorenzo's morning time of 1m56.499s remained the best of the day.
Their factory team-mates were both involved in early incidents.
Dani Pedrosa's Honda appeared to lose fluid through Turn 13, and the Spaniard fell at Turn 14.
Reporting left foot pain, the reigning Brno winner did not reappear and finished the session in 17th place.
Behind Pedrosa on the road, championship leader Valentino Rossi came unstuck on the liquid at Turn 13 and fell - his first crash of the 2015 season - bu het was quickly back in action on his second Yamaha.
Rossi regrouped to log the fourth-fastest time, behind Ducati's Andrea Iannone, while Tech 3 Yamaha's Pol Espargaro improved late to be fifth.
Andrea Dovizioso was sixth and among a host of riders to fall late in the session as grip levels dropped.
Dovizioso lost his Ducati at Turn 5 and was followed by Claudio Corti, while Bradley Smith went down at the same corner shortly afterwards and Mike Di Meglio crashed at Turn 3.
Smith had been in sixth-place and a pioneer running the hard compound tyre on the front and rear of his Tech 3 entry.
After his fall, he lost positions to Suzuki's Aleix Espargaro and LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow, to finish the session ninth.
