Lorenzo disappointed with second

Jorge Lorenzo could not hide his disappointment at being beaten once again by Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi

The Spaniard lost the German MotoGP by less than one tenth of a second from the reigning champion, one month after being overtaken for the lead at the last corner in his home race at Barcelona.

Lorenzo led for three laps before being outbraked by Rossi at the beginning of the penultimate lap, after which the Italian defended the line to the chequered flag.

Despite that, Lorenzo trails Rossi by just 14 points at the top of the championship table.

"I'm not very happy," Lorenzo told Italia1 television, "but we've finished once again on the podium, and that's very important for us, because the championship is still wide open.

"The problem is that the strategy perhaps was wrong: I needed to overtake Valentino a bit earlier, because after that he gave his maximum and he did some great outbraking at the end of the straight, after which it was impossible to overtake him back because I wasn't braking so hard.

"Had I attacked earlier, maybe I could have opened up a gap. Valentino is very good under braking, and I don't feel ready to beat him yet. We are working, and maybe one day we'll do it."
