125cc: Simon dominates Estoril qualifying

Julian Simon has taken a dominant pole position ahead of tomorrow's 125cc Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril

The Aspar Aprilia rider, who can already claim the world championship tomorrow with three races left to run, took the lead in the timesheets during the first half of the 20-minute session and never relinquished.

In the end, the Spaniard ended up with a best lap of 1m45.199s, set with eight minutes to go. That time is over half a second quicker than anyone else's, with compatriot Pol Espargaro qualifying second with his Derbi.

Briton Bradley Smith, on the second Aspar Aprilia, will start the race from third, with the front row completed by Marc Marquez on the KTM.

Kiefer Aprilia's Stefan Bradl will lead the second row, ahead of Nicolas Terol (Jack&Jones Aprilia), Sandro Cortese (Ajo Derbi) and Simone Corsi (Fontana Aprilia).

Andrea Iannone ended up ninth after crashing his Ongetta Aprilia on his final attempt at improving his lap time.
