125cc: Corsi on Valencia provisional pole

Simone Corsi took provisional pole position for the 125cc finale at Valencia on Friday on a steadily improving, if still wet, track

The Italian, a three-time winner in 2008, battled for much of the 45 minutes with Sandro Cortese and Steve Bonsey for the top spot until late on in the session when the times were jumbled by a plethora of late flying laps.

Lorenzo Zanetti took advantage of the spell of late dashes to go second quickest on his ISPA KTM in the end, just ahead of Bonsey who crashed twice on his Aprillia during the session.

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter went fourth fastest on his Ajo Derbi on his final flier, deposing Danny Webb in the process.

Nicolas Terol was sixth fastest ahead of Hugo van den Berg and Joan Olive.

Raffale de Rosa was another to fall, ironically at the same place as Bonsey, but recovered to end the session ninth ahead of German rider Robin Lasser.

Deposed world champion Gabor Talmacsi was 11th ahead of Cortese, who eventually dropped to 12th.
