Moto2: Lorenzo celebrates 'greatest lap'

Jorge Lorenzo believes his pole position lap in 250cc qualifying at Catalunya today was the greatest lap of his career

Moto2: Lorenzo celebrates 'greatest lap'

The Spaniard's 1:45.098 lap was 0.5 seconds quicker than Valentino Rossi's pole time in the last year of the 500cc bikes in 2001.

"This is amazing, no?" said Lorenzo.

"Because Valentino, for me, is the best rider in history, and the 500cc bike is 30km/h faster (on the straights) than the 250.

"So this time is because I did a very fast lap, maybe the fastest lap of my life and the tyres are becoming better this year, so I could do it."

Lorenzo beat the rest of the 250cc field by 1.2 seconds in the second session, securing pole by nine tenths of a second on combined times.

He currently leads the standings by 27 points, having won four of this year's six races.
