Star Mazda champion Jack Hawksworth will contest the 2013 Indy Lights championship with Sam Schmidt Motorsports.
The 21-year-old Briton stormed to this year's crown, winning eight of the 16 races and taking 10 pole positions. He was also a finalist for the McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award.
Hawksworth tested with Schmidt's team at Sebring in November.
Sam Schmidt Motorsports has been a dominant force in Indy Lights, winning the championship six times since its first season in 2002.
Jean-Karl Vernay, Josef Newgarden and Tristan Vautier have been the last three Indy Lights champions, all driving for Schmidt's team.
"Very pleased to announce I will be racing for Sam Schmidt Motorsport in the 2013 Indy Lights series," Hawksworth wrote on Twitter. "Big thank you to Mazda USA and everybody who helped put this together."
