Simona de Silvestro adds Indianapolis 500 to Andretti deal
Simona de Silvestro's Andretti Autosport IndyCar deal will be extended to cover the Indianapolis 500
The Swiss driver had made what was initially a one-off appearance for Andretti in the season-opener in St Petersburg last weekend.
It marked her IndyCar comeback after a year away pursuing a Formula 1 opportunity with Sauber that fell through.
Andretti had already announced that Justin Wilson would race the #25 entry used by de Silvestro last week at Indy, but has now expanded to a fifth car so that she can return for the series' showpiece race alongside Wilson and team regulars Ryan Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti and Carlos Munoz.
"I will for sure have one of the best opportunities to win during the Month of May," said de Silvestro.
Team owner Michael Andretti added: "Simona did a great job for us in St Pete and we are excited to add her as a fifth Andretti entry for the Indy 500."
De Silvestro finished 18th in St Petersburg following a number of incidents in the race. She had qualified 11th for her return.
