Sharp confirmed at Fernandez

IRL IndyCar Series veteran Scott Sharp has ended weeks of speculation about his future by confirming that he will join Adrian Fernandez's team this season following the demise of his former outfit, Kelley Racing

Sharp will drive alongside Kosuke Matsuura with his long-time sponsor Delphi Corporation switching its allegiance to the Fernandez team. Team boss Fernandez is still hoping to raise the necessary sponsorship backing so he can become the category's only owner/driver.

Team co-owner Tom Anderson relished the prospect of the team taking on board the most experienced IRL driver in the field. "We feel we have a winning combination here, one strengthened by the veteran capability of Scott Sharp," he said.

Sharp himself said during this week's Homestead road course test: "I'm ecstatic about the opportunity. I've never driven a Panoz or a Honda, and I'm working with a brand new team. It's a lot to get used to, but that's why we have a few days down here [at Homestead]."
