Sebastien Bourdais, James Hinchcliffe hit with grid penaltys for Long Beach race

Two drivers have been issued with 10-place grid penalties for this weekend's IndyCar round at Long Beach after their teams made unauthorised engine changes

Sebastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing) and James Hinchcliffe (Andretti Autosport) will both be docked 10 grid spots for Sunday's race after falling foul of the series's regulations that prevent engine changes except under specific circumstances.

Bourdais' Lotus unit was replaced after the last round at Barber two weeks ago, while Hinchcliffe's Chevrolet powerplant had to be swapped after developing a problem during Monday's test at Sonoma.

Three similar penalties have already been issued so far this season, and Hinchcliffe's problem means that all three engine manufacturers have now been affected.

Oriol Servia and Alex Tagliani were forced to change their Lotus engines Barber, while Simon Pagenaud's Honda unit was replaced at St Petersburg.
