Sarah Fisher secures drive in first race
Sarah Fisher will be on the grid in the IRL IndyCar Series season-opener this weekend, after her Dreyer & Reinbold team secured a last-minute sponsorship deal
Fisher, who has been voted the most popular driver in the all-oval series for the past two seasons, will be sponsored by WeGotGear, a firm that produces corporate promotional products.
Team co-owner Dennis Reinbold said: "WeGotGear stepped in to help get the season started. We're grateful for their support in making the first race possible for the No. 23 team."
Susan Driscoll, executive vice-president of WeGotGear, said: "Our partnership with the Indy Racing League, Sarah Fisher and the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team is part of our commitment to the Indy Racing League and its support of women in sport. WeGotGear enthusiastically sponsors Sarah and her team as part of this growing racing fan experience called the Indy Racing League."
The deal rescues Fisher from starting a second straight season on the sidelines. Last year, she missed the first three races of last season because of a lack of sponsorship.
