Race update, lap 150: Six-car battle
Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Gil de Ferran are running at the front of a train of six cars all fighting for the lead as the 87th Indianapolis 500 moves into the final quarter
Castroneves is trying to win the race for the third time in a row, something that has never been done before, but he is being chased hard by de Ferran and Tony Kanaan.
Long-time leader Tomas Scheckter, Tora Takagi and Scott Dixon are keeping a watching brief just behind the top three.
Airton Dare caused the sixth caution period of the race when he hit the wall on the exit of Turn Two on lap 127. The resulting round of pit stops cost Scheckter the lead to Castroneves. When the race went back under green on lap 136 and it was then that Scheckter slipped behind de Ferran and Kanaan.
A fuel-hose pit crew member for Shinji Nakano has been taken to the circuit medical centre after the Japanese driver clipped a wheel which then hit him. There is no word on his condition currently although he is thought to have leg injuries.
